Â
Trackit calibration consists of three parts: Scanner accuracy check and calibration, Tracker accuracy verification and calibration, and Hand-eye calibration.
Â
1. Environment Requirements
- The calibration process requires performing calibration at various distances. It’s recommended to do calibration in an open indoor space with a distance of 4 meters or more.
- Temperature: 20–25°C
- Humidity: 30-60%
- Airflow: Avoid airflow disturbances, such as air conditioner outlets, fans, or strong convection air.
- Vibration: Avoid physical vibrations, such as frequent jumping/walking or heavy objects falling.
Â
2. Steps Before Calibration
Step 1: Install and Connect the Tracker and Scanner. Refer to Trackit Hardware Connection Guidance.
Step 2:Â Connect the Tracker and its Gimbal with the Tracker Gimbal Cable (short yellow cable).
Step 3: Install the Scanner Gimbal onto the Scanner Tripod with its bolt. Connect the Tracker and the Scanner Gimbal using the Scanner Gimbal Cable (long yellow cable).
Step 4:Â Mount the Calibration Pole onto the Scanner Gimbal. Keep the Calibration Pole upright with the inclined surfaces facing the table.
Step 5: Get the Calibration Board Tripod and the Positioning Pad for the following hand-eye calibration process.
Â
3. Start to Calibrate
Precautions:
(1) Calibrate your Trackit before your first use, after scanning the environment or temperature changes, or when a high-accuracy scan is required.
(2)Â Ensure that the Tracker Tripod, Scanner Tripod, and Calibration Board Tripod are positioned on a stable and solid surface.
(3)Â Avoid grasping or rubbing the Scanner, Calibration Pole, and the markers on the Calibration Board with your hands.
(4) Always make sure the computer is plugged into the power socket when using the product.
(5) Trackit offers two calibration options: desktop and ground. Choose the one that best suits your workplace. (When performing ground calibration, adjust all three legs of the Tracker Tripod to the shortest length, and set the angle of each leg to the second level, 50°)
(6) During the Tracker calibration process, do not cover the Tracker's cameras and make sure only the markers on the Calibration Pole are within the Tracker's field of view
(7) During the Hand-eye calibration process, avoid blocking the Tracker's camera and ensure that only the Scanner and the markers on the Calibration Board are in the Tracker's line of sight.
(8) Throughout the calibration process, ensure that no other objects are in the Tracker's field of view
Â
Step 1: Open the software, and click the "Scanner Calibration" in the bottom left corner to enter the calibration program, and click Start Calibration.
Step 2: Pay attention to the temperature detection. If the temperature is normal, calibration will start automatically. If not, make adjustments according to the software prompts and start calibration after the temperature meets the requirements.
Step 3:Â Confirm via prompt at the bottom that both the Tracker and Scanner are connected.
Step 4: Follow the on-screen prompts to: insert the USB Flash Drive into your PC, scan the QR codes on the Calibration Pole and the Calibration Board to import their SN info, click Import from USB flash drive, follow the three steps to practice and start the calibration.
Â
*Calibration Cautions:
Ensure the Tracker and Scanner's cameras are not blocked during the whole process.
To get accurate calibration results, ensure that only the markers on the Calibration Pole and Board are captured.
Don't move the device while it indicates “Calibration in progress".
Â
4. Scanner Accuracy Check and Calibration
Place the Calibration Board flat on the table with the white side facing up. Hold the Scanner, and follow the on-screen calibration prompts to do the exercise, accuracy check, and calibration.
Once calibration is completed, click Continue.
Â
5. Tracker Accuracy Check and Calibration
Step 1: Accuracy Check
Click Start Check on the software.
Hold the Calibration Pole horizontally, stand 2 meters from the Tracker, and align the side with the markers directly towards it.
According to the interface prompts, adjust the Calibration Pole to the designated position to complete the horizontal accuracy check.
Then, hold the Calibration Pole vertically about 2 meters from the Tracker, align the side with the markers towards it.
Finally, hold the Calibration Pole vertically, tilt it 45°backward, and position it about 2 meters from the Tracker with the side with markers facing it.
After the accuracy check finishes, click Continue Calibration.
Â
Step 2: Tracker Calibration
Position the Scanner Tripod with the Calibration Pole facing the Tracker. Ensure all the devices and gimbals are connected through the prompt at the bottom of the interface.
Adjust the Tracker Tripod's height to ensure the Tracker captures the Calibration Pole. Then, following the software prompts, wait for 3 seconds, and the calibration starts automatically. And next, follow the guidance to calibrate the Tracker at different distances.
Once calibration is completed, click Continue.
Â
6. Hand-Eye Calibration
Place the Positioning Pad. Unfold the Positioning Pad on the table. Position the Scanner and Calibration Board Tripods as shown on the Positioning Pad.
Install the Calibration Board. Place the Calibration Board into its tripod with the black side facing the Scanner and the marker side facing the Tracker. Ensure no markers are blocked during the placement.
Install the Scanner: Remove the Calibration Pole from the Scanner Gimbal. Then, connect the Scanner to the Gimbal using the Scanner Adapter.
Then follow the software prompts to move the Tracker until both the Calibration Board and Scanner show green status, and the scanner calibration starts automatically.
Once Calibration Complete shows, click Complete to finish all the calibration steps.
